What should a retail and shop website look like? Products, trust, orders
For a shop, the website is the shop window facing the phone rather than the street. A customer may have seen you while passing, heard of you from someone they know, or be trying to find out who sells the product they're looking for; before walking in, they look at your site. If they can't find what you sell, where the shop is and when it's open, and how they can get the product, they turn to another shop or a big marketplace. In this post, we explain what a retail and shop website should include, how customers search for you and which details build trust.

What is a retail and shop website, and why do you need one?
A retail and shop website is a corporate site that brings a shop's product groups, address and opening hours, and order, delivery, payment and return terms together at one address, so customers can get to know you before they visit the shop or place an order. You may also be selling on marketplaces and social media; but those accounts work by someone else's rules, and when they close, customers can't find you. Your own site turns the information you explain again every day at the counter and on the phone into something written and lasting: whether you take online orders alongside in-store sales, which area same-day delivery covers, whether cash on delivery is available. Even if it doesn't take orders, the site is the tool that brings customers into the shop and makes the phone ring.
Which pages should a shop site have?
The home page should say at a glance what you sell and where the shop is; the details should be spread across sub-pages.
- Product and service pages: a separate page for your product groups and for each way you sell, such as in-store sales, online orders, wholesale and corporate supply.
- Delivery and payment: the same-day delivery area, shipping time, cash on delivery and other options on one page.
- Exchanges and returns: time limit, conditions and whether a receipt is needed, in plain language; it's the topic customers hesitate to ask about.
- Campaigns and discounts: only campaigns currently running, with their end dates.
- Gallery: photos of the shop interior, the window and the products; real shots.
- Frequently asked questions and contact: address, map, opening hours, phone and a short order or quote form.
When each topic sits at its own address, customers find what they're looking for easily, and search engines read each page under its own heading.
How do customers search for a shop?
Customers usually search while on the move and on their phone, with phrases like "shoe shop near me" or "homeware shop open in the evening". Most of these searches are local and in a hurry; people want a shop they can go to today, that's open right now. On your site, the address, opening hours and phone number should be reachable with one tap from every page; tapping the number should start a call, and tapping the map should open directions. Product photos shouldn't load slowly on mobile, and the order form should be short. Page titles and descriptions should carry the name of the product group and the neighbourhood so search engines read correctly what the page is about. This isn't a ranking promise; it's the groundwork customers need to be able to find you when they search.
What builds trust?
Customers entrust you with their money and their time; trust is built with verifiable details, not exaggerated claims.
- Real business details: trade name, full address, landline and mobile numbers, business email; the address and opening hours of each branch, if any.
- Legal texts: privacy notice, cookie policy and privacy page; if you take online orders, the sales and delivery terms should also be in place, in line with the relevant consumer rules.
- Price and stock wording: the price on the site should match the price in the shop; products out of stock should be clearly marked as sold out.
Don't show a product you don't have or a service you don't offer on the site. Instead of "we have everything", highlighting the product groups you're genuinely strong in persuades customers more. Use clear language in campaign texts that complies with the relevant advertising rules; don't leave an expired campaign on the site.

Questions about Retail & Shops websites
Do our shop's sales and delivery options come ready at setup?
When Retail & Shops is selected, suggestions for in-store sales, online orders, same-day delivery, cash on delivery, exchanges and returns, campaigns and discounts, wholesale and corporate supply are added in one click. You don't select a way of selling you don't offer; you change the names and descriptions from the panel to suit your business.
Can I sell online with a shopping cart on the site?
No; no package includes a cart, virtual POS, shipping or stock management. The site is a showcase for products and services: it shows products with their prices in a catalogue and directs customers to the quote form or to a sales conversation on WhatsApp. If you're thinking of moving to cart-based selling, we have a separate E-commerce Consulting service for the pre-launch decisions.
How many products can I show in the catalogue?
The product catalogue goes up to 50 items on Advantage and 500 on Performance; there's no limit on Exclusive. When choosing a package, just take into account how many product groups and items you want to show. Clearly marking products out of stock as sold out protects customers' trust.
How do I get quote requests from wholesale and corporate customers?
Every package has a quote and contact form, a WhatsApp line and a click-to-call button. Every request is kept in the inbox in the panel; even if an email notification is missed, it isn't lost, and spam protection is built in. Corporate buyers often look for your trade name and full address for invoicing; this information needs to be complete on the site.
How should I write delivery, exchange and return terms on the site?
The same-day delivery area, shipping time, cash on delivery, the exchange and return period and whether a receipt is needed should be written in plain language and in one place; customers often hesitate to ask about them. If you take online orders, the sales and delivery terms need to comply with the relevant consumer rules; the content of these texts should be prepared with your legal adviser.
